K dramas worth anticipating

K dramas, I’m sorry to have abandoned you. Actually wait, I don’t think I am. But the truth is, I got sick of your typical ‘draggy till I have to manually fast forward with my mouse’ one dimension plots. Yes. One dimension. Even with all the complex twists and turns of hidden secrets being uncovered one after the other *yawn*, tears dripping till my ducts ran dry (hey, I can’t help it) , I still consider most K dramas to be a bore.

That point of view might change however (though I really doubt), I am pretty darn stoked for these upcoming shows:

MUST WATCH

Gentlemen’s Class/Dignity: I’m excited for Kim Soo Ro, of all people. LOL. Sorry to any Jang Dong Gun fan reading this. After spotting him in one of the cast photos, I immediately scribbled down the title on my to-watch list. He was hilarious in Family Outing for a variety newbie, and it’ll be great to see him as a proper actor for once.

OMG. Did I mention Jonghyun of CN BLUE will also be making an appearance? If you didn’t know, I had a small crush on him during WGM. Double awesomeness.

Arang and the Magistrate: Now, I can’t be 100% certain of why I added this to the list. Maybe because Lee Jun Ki stood out to me. He looks so much better with his short, ‘fresh outta army’ hair. And the only show I’ve ever seen him in was during his guest appearance on FO. Or maybe it was the supernatural fantasy plot which I’m really into these days. Or maybe because the gorgeous Shin Min Ah is acting opposite him and I’m predicting some interesting chemistry between these two. Or maybe let’s face it - my crush on Yoon Seung Ho never faded. Yessss, crushes galore whaddya know.

Big: In continuation of the whole crush player thing, I must confess that I have a huge girl crush on Lee Min Jung. She’s gorgeous beyond gorgeous. I mean srsly, if I were a man, she’d totally be my ‘type’. Also, Gong Yoo’s return brings back old memories of me watching K drama without the dreaded fast-forwarding habit. Not to mention, Big is scripted by the much loved Hong Sisters, and I’ve enjoyed most of the shows they’ve put together.

MAYBE

I Do, I Do: I like Kim Sun Ah. Really. But Scent of a Woman didn’t do it for me, in terms of the plot. She was supposed to act like a pathetic leukemic spinster who had a limited amount of time to live and she succeeded in it. In fact, she made me feel so sorry for her, almost bordering to the point of annoyance, that half the time I wanted to shake her by the shoulders and shout ‘STOP ACTING SO PATHETIC DAMMIT!’ Anyway, that just goes to show I prefer my female leads to be a little more feisty. Coming back to I Do, I Do, the plot seems abit meh… a little too similar to Fashion King. What’s with knock-off products? And the lead actor doesn’t really seem appealing either. I don’t know, it’s not a total strike-off, neither is it a must watch. So umm, maybe? Ah, time will tell.

Funny how I dedicated an entire post to K dramas.

I have a new fashion-related tumblr

in case you’re interested.

Omg. Feeling so bloated after a massive cup of bubble tea and pearls, AND my period’s giving me cramps. Seems the older I get, the more intense the cramps get, plus my skin just suffered from its worst hormonal breakout yet.

Thanks babe for the olive branch.

I’m so addicted to It’s Judy’s Life atm. They remind me of those reality tv programs like Keeping Up with the Kardashians, except I don’t really keep up with these kind of shows. I might, if I had cable. Benji is seriously making me crave all things organic and I’m gonna start incorporating spinach into my smoothies.

So Barack Obama just announced his support of gay marriage. I can’t say I’m surprised. Which is sad, because the whole world’s conforming to a supposedly ‘modern’ view of things.

And of course, as people like us, who’re generally outsiders to the gay debate, or to put it specifically as Christians who’re watching with shifty eyes and conflicting thoughts from behind a telly screen, I wonder where our stance lies if one day, we’re called to affirm our beliefs in front of God and the world. Imagine a life and death scenario.

For me, it’s easy. Gay marriage will and never be for me. To be honest, I’ve never had  a strong opinion on such issues, for fear of stepping on the toes of others. But, God wouldn’t want me to be wishy-washy. It’s almost as if I’m denying my faith if I kept my mouth closed. One day, we will have to be brave and stand up against the world.

‘If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you’ - John 15: 18 - 19

Electronic text is dynamic and volatile: it somehow stays where it is when you scroll it, though it is always momentarily lost, or the eye is. It always threatens to go away. Even when static, electronic text seems frantic. It constantly reenacts its making, bobbing up from the dark beneath with the same buoyant insistance it has when you type it. Blurts of light emerge, more linear than ever print is in their constant inscription, the text always pushing the cursor forward, or dancing above a block of light like singalong lyrics in old movie houses.

Santorini, so beautiful.

Added to my list of places to visit before I die.
